Islamabad: Pakistani actress Mahira Khan recently shared a special trait of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan that left a lasting impression on her during their collaboration on the 2017 film Raees. Speaking at an event in London, Mahira reflected on her experience working with Shah Rukh, highlighting his ability to make others feel truly valued.
Mahira explained that what she found most beautiful about Shah Rukh was his unique ability to give his full attention to the person he is speaking to, whether in person or over the phone. She said, “I think what’s beautiful about Shah Rukh is that when you talk to him or message him, you feel important. He makes you feel like you matter. That’s his special quality — he gives importance to the person in front of him.”
She further elaborated that his generosity and kindness have left a profound impact on her, and she often speaks about this after their film together.
Mahira and Shah Rukh Khan worked together on Raees, which was released in 2017. Following their collaboration, Mahira has consistently praised Shah Rukh’s warmth and thoughtful nature.
Earlier, the casting director of Raees, Mukesh, and the film’s director Rahul Dholakia, shared insights into Mahira’s casting for the film. They mentioned that they needed an actress who was closer in age to Shah Rukh Khan, who was 50 at the time, and someone who could portray the character of Aasiya convincingly. Rahul Dholakia also noted that Mahira’s command over Hindi and the innocence she brought to her role were key factors that set her apart from other actresses.
Interestingly, it was Shah Rukh Khan’s wife Gauri’s mother who spotted Mahira on television and suggested her to Shah Rukh, leading to her selection for the role.
