Lightning Strike Changes Woman’s Eye Color in Rare Incident in Australia

A woman in Australia has experienced a rare and astonishing side effect after being struck by lightning, as her eye color changed from green to a deep brown following the incident.
30-year-old Carly Electric, who has always had an interest in storms and lightning, was outside watching a storm in December 2023 when the lightning struck her. Carly, who also has tattoos based on lightning themes, described the experience as feeling like she had used drugs, with numbness spreading through her limbs.
She said, “My whole body began to sweat, and my head started spinning. It became impossible for me to even take a step.” By the time medical personnel arrived, her hands and feet had turned blue, and she was unable to move her head.
After being rushed to the hospital, Carly experienced several hours of unconsciousness and regaining consciousness intermittently. Doctors diagnosed her with a condition where the limbs temporarily become paralyzed due to the lightning strike.
While she recovered physically, Carly was stunned to discover that her eye color had changed. “My eyes used to be green, but now they have turned dark brown,” she explained. Research revealed that such eye color changes are a known occurrence in people who have been struck by lightning.
Carly also noted that her scalp has become highly sensitive and becomes warm when touched, causing her to avoid brushing her hair.
This extraordinary event highlights the unpredictable and potentially lasting effects of lightning strikes on the human body.
