Lawyers’ Organizations in Balochistan Condemn Vile Language Against Judges
Quetta:The legal fraternity across Pakistan has strongly condemned the use of derogatory language against Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri of the Islamabad High Court in a recent social media campaign.
The uproar follows a slanderous social media campaign targeting judges, which lawyers’ organizations in Balochistan have deemed a serious assault on the sanctity of judicial matters in Pakistan. They asserted that such attacks are not only unprecedented but also pose a grave threat to judicial independence in the country.
Lawyers’ organizations in Balochistan, including the Balochistan Bar Council and the Balochistan High Court Bar Association, have announced their full support for the legal and constitutional rights of judges amidst what they described as unwarranted interference by undisclosed agencies in judicial affairs.
In a joint statement issued yesterday, these organizations pledged solidarity with lawyers across the country in upholding the rule of law and defending judicial independence. They reiterated their commitment to safeguarding the Constitution and ensuring justice for all, including judges facing undue criticism.
The legal community in Balochistan emphasized that attacks on judicial independence must not go unchallenged, underscoring the importance of unity among lawyers nationwide to counter such attempts aimed at undermining the democratic fabric of the nation.
The Balochistan Bar Council and related legal bodies concluded by reaffirming their resolve to uphold the rule of law and protect the rights of judges against any form of unwarranted interference, while also calling for an end to the smear campaign against Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri and others in the judiciary.
