Lahore: Torrential rains measuring 315 millimeters in Tajo Pura area have shattered a 30-year rainfall record in Lahore. According to Express News, the provincial capital witnessed heavy downpours accompanied by strong winds, transforming streets and alleys into river-like scenes. Authorities are actively engaged in drainage operations to manage the water accumulation.
Government figures confirm that Lahore has experienced its highest rainfall in 30 years. Last year, the highest recorded rainfall was 291 millimeters in Lakshmi Chowk area. Furthermore, rainfall records were set at 130mm in Mughalpura, 132mm in Gulshan-e-Ravi, and 133mm in Samanabad. Other notable figures include 122mm in Chowk Nakhuda, 128mm in Iqbal Town, 125mm in Qartaba Chowk, 135mm in Shadman, 71mm at the Airport, 123mm in Upper Mall, 41mm in Gulberg, 129mm in Nishtar Town, 55mm on Jail Road, and 119mm in Farooqabad.
Local authorities report ongoing rainfall in areas such as Davis Road, China Chowk, Canal Road, Gardhi Shahu, Allama Iqbal Road, Allah Road, Kashmir Road, Egerton Road, Johar Town, Shalimar Hills, and their surroundings, causing water accumulation at several critical locations.
