KP Information Advisor: Punjab Police Fired on Protesters

Islamabad: In a recent statement, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Information Advisor, Barrister Muhammad Saif, addressed the reasons behind Chief Minister Ali Amin’s and party workers’ absence from the Rawalpindi protest. He alleged that Punjab police opened fire directly on their activists.

Barrister Saif reported that excessive use of tear gas by the Punjab police led to multiple injuries among their workers, who were subsequently transported to nearby hospitals with the help of Rescue 1122.

He emphasized that accountability for the actions of Maryam Nawaz and her associates regarding the direct firing and tear gas shelling would be sought. The Chief Minister, Sardar Ali Amin Gandapur, had already conducted a demonstration in Punjab, addressing his supporters.

According to Barrister Saif, there was significant pressure from party members to protest in Rawalpindi. He assured that they would return to Punjab at any time and that instructions for their return were issued after consultation with the party’s central leadership.

He stated, “Protesting is our constitutional right. The PML-N is fighting for its survival, sacrificing institutions and the public for its dirty politics, and we will not allow that.”
