Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province has unveiled plans to establish a dedicated security division aimed at safeguarding key personalities, prisons, and installations. According to documents, the proposal to create 11,853 positions has been drafted by the province’s Interior Department. The security division will oversee the protection of officials responsible for key personalities, prisons, and installations.
As per the documents, the proposed positions include 7 SPs, 105 inspectors, and 210 assistant inspectors. Additionally, there are recommendations to create 1,048 head constables and 10,483 constable positions. The recruitment for the security division will be conducted in three phases from 2024 to 2027. The establishment of the security division is expected to cost more than 6 billion rupees.
Currently, there are 10,483 police personnel deployed to ensure the security of key personalities and installations. The heightened security measures are aimed at enhancing public safety amidst concerns over the security of officials and installations.
