KL Rahul Credits Teamwork and Hard Work for India’s ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Victory

Indian batter and wicketkeeper KL Rahul has hailed India’s victory in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 as the result of hard work and teamwork. Speaking to reporters after the match at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Rahul described the win as a dream and emphasized that it was a collective effort by the team.
“This is my first Champions Trophy, and I am incredibly happy with the victory. The team displayed outstanding performances throughout the tournament, and every player took responsibility. That was the key to our success,” said Rahul.
Reflecting on his role as a wicketkeeper, Rahul explained that this was not a new role for him. “When people ask me when I started wicketkeeping, I tell them, I’ve always been a wicketkeeper! However, with the Indian team, I didn’t get many chances to play in that role,” he added.
Rahul further shared that when he started his cricket journey, he played as a wicketkeeper-batter but later focused more on batting. “In 2019, when the team needed a wicketkeeper, I took on that responsibility, and I’ve been performing this role ever since,” he said.
Regarding his batting position in the team, Rahul mentioned that he always tries to adapt to the team’s needs. “Cricket is a team game, and you have to understand your responsibility and perform accordingly. I am happy that I have been given various roles and have been able to perform in them,” he stated.
India claimed their third ICC Champions Trophy title on Sunday after defeating New Zealand by 4 wickets in the final. New Zealand, having won the toss, chose to bat and posted 251/7 in their 50 overs. India chased down the target in 49 overs, scoring 252/6 to seal the victory.
