Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Take Action Against Parents Refusing Polio Vaccination
Peshawar: The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has decided to take action against parents who refuse to administer polio drops to their children. This decision comes as part of the ongoing polio eradication campaign in the province.
So far this year, 18 polio cases have been reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with nine cases in Dera Ismail Khan, three in Tank, two each in Lakki Marwat and Kohat, and one each in Mardan and Nowshera.
The provincial government has set a target to vaccinate over 6 million children during the current anti-polio campaign. In Peshawar alone, 800,000 children are expected to receive the polio vaccine. However, due to security concerns, the vaccination drive will not be conducted in the Kurram district.
The government’s new initiative aims to strengthen efforts in eradicating the disease, ensuring the safety and health of children across the region.
