Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Situation: Governor Faisal Karim Kundi and ANP’s Aimal Wali Khan Speak in Unison

Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi and the leader of the Awami National Party (ANP), Aimal Wali Khan, have voiced their concerns in unison regarding the deteriorating security situation in the province.
In a joint press conference held in Charsadda, both leaders discussed the deteriorating law and order situation in the province.
Governor Faisal Karim Kundi emphasized that terrorism must be fought with peace, and he vowed to continue working towards the betterment of the province. He stated that achieving peace in the region requires collective effort from all political parties. He also acknowledged the precarious security situation, stating that the province is currently “on fire” while criticizing the provincial government’s focus on issues in Islamabad rather than addressing local security concerns.
“The provincial government went to Islamabad to fuel the fire, and no one from Punjab has been targeted. They are focusing on rescuing their leader, while ignoring the real issues of the province,” Kundi said, referring to the provincial government’s actions in Islamabad.
The Governor also mentioned that he is working to bring together all political parties for a dialogue on peace and security, and announced that an All-Party Conference will be held on December 5.
“Peace must be restored to the province. The province has been handed over to terrorists. We will also be speaking to the federal government regarding law and order,” Kundi said. He added that no consultation had been made with him regarding the imposition of Governor’s Rule in the province.
Aimal Wali Khan, speaking alongside Kundi, expressed solidarity with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), highlighting the ideological alignment between ANP and PPP. He mentioned discussions with the Governor regarding the ongoing violence in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly the recent incident in Kurram, and reiterated that all parties must unite for peace.
Aimal Wali Khan also expressed support for a ban on the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), calling the party’s actions on May 9 and November 24 as undemocratic and a valid justification for the ban.
“PTI has shown an undemocratic attitude, and the events of May 9 and November 24 provide the best justification for a ban,” Khan said.
Both leaders stressed the importance of unity among political parties to address the growing challenges of terrorism and lawlessness in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
