Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Advisor Assures Peace in Kurram, Condemns Attack on Deputy Commissioner

Peshawar:Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Information Advisor, Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif, has assured that peace will be maintained in Kurram District at all costs, in line with the agreement made during the Grand Jirga held in Kohat.

In an interview with Geo News, Barrister Saif condemned the attack on the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Kurram, stating that it was a “failed and malicious attempt” to disrupt peace in the region. He urged the people of Kurram to remain vigilant against anti-peace elements.

Barrister Saif emphasized that the government is committed to ensuring peace in Kurram and will take firm action against those disrupting security. “Peace will be ensured in Kurram, and any enemies of peace will be dealt with harshly,” he said.

He also appealed to the public to cooperate with the administration and government to help maintain long-term peace in the area. The Chief Minister has instructed authorities to bring those responsible for the attack to justice.

Regarding the security concerns, Barrister Saif explained that the convoy to Kurram was temporarily halted due to security threats. However, once clearance is received, the convoy will be sent on its way shortly.

It is important to note that, under the Kurram peace agreement, the first convoy was scheduled to depart for Kurram after a gap of nearly three months. However, shortly before the convoy’s departure, the Deputy Commissioner of Kurram, Javed Allah Mehsud, was attacked in the Baggan area of Lower Kurram. The attack resulted in injuries to DC Javed Mehsud, along with several FC and police personnel. Following the attack, the departure of the convoy to Kurram was halted.
