Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government Announces Financial Support for Underprivileged Girls’ Weddings
Peshawar:The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has announced a significant initiative to support underprivileged girls by covering the expenses of their weddings, along with providing financial aid in the form of cash gifts. The decision was made during a meeting of the Social Welfare Department, chaired by KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.
In the meeting, it was decided that over 4,000 deserving girls in the province will have their weddings funded by the government’s *Jahiz Fund* (Dowry Fund). The weddings will be held in collective ceremonies at the divisional level, and the entire expense for these events will be borne by the provincial government.
Additionally, as part of the welfare scheme, each of the girls will be provided with a cash grant of Rs. 200,000 from the Jahiz Fund to help with their wedding expenses. The initiative is aimed at supporting the underprivileged families and ensuring that financial barriers do not prevent girls from having a dignified wedding.
Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur emphasized during the meeting that the benefits of this scheme should only reach those who truly deserve them. He directed that the eligibility and distribution processes be carefully monitored to ensure transparency. Furthermore, he instructed that inactive shelters for women and children be made fully operational without delay.
