Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has approved a 25% increase in the salaries of government employees. An official notification has been issued by the provincial treasury department confirming the decision, which was endorsed through a cabinet circular. The increment, effective from July 1, 2024, will be implemented using the Relief Allowance mechanism.
According to the details, a basic pay increase of 25% has been sanctioned for employees from Grade 1 to 16. Similarly, officers in Grade 17 to 22 will receive a 20% salary hike.
It is noteworthy that initially, the KP government had proposed a 10% raise in the budget, but following the example of the federal government and other provinces, the increment was revised to 25%. The amendment to the Finance Bill 2024 for this purpose is expected to be passed by the provincial assembly.
