Khursheed Shah Asserts No Compromise on Sindh’s Water Rights

Sukkur: Senior Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader and former Opposition Leader of the National Assembly, Syed Khursheed Shah, has reiterated the party’s firm stance on the canal issue, emphasizing that there will be no compromise on Sindh’s water rights.
Addressing the media in Sukkur, Khursheed Shah stated that the Sindh government’s position on the canal issue is clear and unequivocal: there will be no concessions made regarding Sindh’s water.
Reacting to comments made by Punjab’s Information Minister, Khursheed Shah advised Azma Bukhari to refrain from making provocative statements and reminded her that her roots are in PPP, urging her to avoid such remarks.
He further stated that PPP has always been a staunch defender of the federation and that the party has been the only democratic force in the country since its inception. Khursheed Shah also pointed out that the issue of the canal is not just a concern for Sindh, but for the entire country, with voices now even rising from Punjab. He warned that if the situation regarding the canal persists, Pakistan could face severe water shortages.
In response to questions regarding the release of PTI’s founder, Khursheed Shah noted that he does not engage in making predictions, as the matter is now before the courts. He also stated that while PTI may bring any resolution they wish, they should remain quiet, as they do not listen to anyone in Parliament and show no seriousness in discussions.
Khursheed Shah concluded by stressing the importance of focusing on the nation’s issues. He pointed out that while parties are focusing on irrelevant matters, the PPP remains committed to addressing critical issues such as water rights, ensuring that Pakistan’s interests are safeguarded, and preserving the integrity of the federation.
