Islamabad:On India’s Independence Day, Kashmir is observing a Black Day to protest against India’s illegal occupation of the region. According to Kashmir Media Service, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference called for the observance of Black Day in response to India’s occupation, leading to a complete strike in the region with businesses closed.
Hurriyat leaders have urged the Kashmiri people to send a strong message to India, rejecting its occupation and asserting that India has no legal or moral right to celebrate its Independence Day in the occupied territory. They argue that India’s control over Kashmir is a blatant violation of international laws and United Nations Security Council resolutions.
Despite the harsh measures and surveillance imposed by the Narendra Modi administration, including strict monitoring and CCTV cameras, Kashmiris continued to display their support for Pakistan. On August 14, Pakistan’s Independence Day, posters in favor of Pakistan were put up, and Pakistani flags were flown across various districts in the occupied valley. The posters featured slogans such as “Happy Independence Day” and “We are Pakistanis, Pakistan is ours.”
