Karachi Worker Kidnapped and Tortured, Family Demands Police Action

A Karachi-based electrician, Allah Yar, who was abducted on December 18, 2024, was reportedly tortured by his kidnappers, with disturbing videos of his injuries sent to his family as a ransom demand. The case was officially registered by Shah Latif Town Police on January 19, 2025.

Allah Yar, a resident of Sargodha, was allegedly abducted under the pretense of offering him a large electrical job in Sindh. According to his relatives, the kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of 60 lakh rupees, which was later reduced to 50 lakh and finally to 40 lakh rupees. They also threatened to kill Allah Yar if the ransom was not paid.

The first video showing Allah Yar in a distressed and tortured state was sent to his family on December 21, 2024, and a second video was sent recently. His family, who are financially poor, has expressed their inability to meet the kidnappers’ demands.

Relatives, including Muhammad Riaz, reported that they had informed the police about the abduction immediately. However, it took over a month for the police to register the FIR. Allah Yar’s mother and widowed sister are now desperately seeking his release, but have no means to pay the ransom.

The police have expanded their investigation after the case was officially filed, though Allah Yar’s fate remains uncertain. In a separate incident on January 13, three young men from the Razvia Society area were also abducted while seeking work in Ghotki, and have yet to be rescued.
