Karachi: As of October this year, Karachi has reported a total of 1,935 cases of malaria and 172 cases of chikungunya. According to a spokesperson for the Sindh Health Department, the majority of malaria cases have been recorded in various districts: 1,026 cases in Malir, 370 in Korangi, 259 in South District, 187 in West District, 86 in East District, and 70 in Central District. Notably, no malaria cases have been reported from Keamari District this year.
Additionally, there have been 956 suspected cases of chikungunya in the city. Across Sindh province, a staggering 244,319 malaria cases have been reported this year. The breakdown includes 117,134 cases from Hyderabad Division, 17,498 from Sukkur Division, 54,225 from Larkana Division, 33,279 from Mirpur Khas Division, and 20,248 from Shaheed Benazirabad Division.
