Karachi: Police Rescues Girl Allegedly Held in Confinement by Parents

Karachi:In a major development in Karachi’s **Firdous Colony** area, the **Qaidabad Police** successfully rescued a 21-year-old girl, **Naz Fatima**, who was allegedly confined by her parents in their home.

According to the police, **Naz Fatima**, daughter of **Niaz Hussain Shah**, was reportedly being held in **illegal detention** at her parents’ residence in **Landhi**. The police acted on the girl’s distress call, and after conducting a raid, managed to free her from the confines of her own home.

Upon her rescue, the girl disclosed to the authorities that she is a **staff nurse** and wished to marry someone of her own choice. She claimed that her parents had been forcing her into an arranged marriage and were refusing to allow her to marry her preferred partner.

Naz further alleged that her father had subjected her to physical **abuse**, including cutting her hair. In response to her accusations, the police arrested several family members, including her **father**, **mother**, **grandmother**, **uncle**, and a **neighbor**.

A case has been registered by the police based on the girl’s statement, and further investigations are underway to uncover the full details of the incident.

This case highlights the ongoing concerns around **forced marriages** and **gender-based violence**, prompting calls for better protection of women’s rights in the country.
