Karachi:Independence Day celebrations in Karachi were overshadowed by rampant aerial firing across the city, resulting in 95 people being injured. According to the police surgeon, one of the injured is in critical condition and is receiving treatment at Civil Hospital.
Dr. Samiha, the police surgeon, informed Geo News that the injuries ranged from a 5-year-old child to a 75-year-old elderly person. Of the 95 injured, 22 were brought to Civil Hospital, including 5 women, with ages ranging from 6 to 55 years.
At Jinnah Hospital, 39 injured individuals, including 6 women, were treated, while Abbasi Shaheed Hospital reported 34 cases of injuries due to aerial firing, comprising 25 men and 9 women, with ages ranging from 6 to 65 years.
Last year, aerial firing on Independence Day resulted in 2 fatalities and 100 injuries.
The police reported that as soon as the clock struck midnight on August 14, both fireworks and aerial firing erupted in various parts of the city, leading to the injuries of 95 citizens.
In response, police authorities have arrested several suspects involved in the aerial firing, confiscated their weapons, and registered cases against them.
