Karachi Imposes Section 144 for Two Days to Curb Fireworks and Firing During New Year’s Celebrations

Karachi:The Karachi administration has imposed **Section 144** for two days, effective from **December 31, 2024**, to **January 1, 2025**, to maintain law and order during the New Year celebrations. This decision comes as a preventive measure to stop the practice of aerial firing and the use of fireworks, which are often a cause of accidents and public disturbance during the festivities.

According to a notification issued by the **Karachi Commissioner**, the ban will specifically target **fireworks** and **firearms** during the transition from the old year to the new one. The authorities have made it clear that anyone found violating this order will face **strict legal action**.

The move is aimed at ensuring the safety of citizens and preventing any untoward incidents during the New Year’s celebrations in Karachi, which often see a surge in fire-related accidents and injuries due to fireworks and celebratory gunfire. The administration has urged the public to cooperate with the authorities in maintaining peace and safety during the holiday period.

Residents have been advised to avoid indulging in any form of aerial firing or fireworks and to report any violations to the authorities immediately.
