Karachi Imposes Section 144 for Two Days to Curb Fireworks and Firing During New Year’s Celebrations

Karachi:The Karachi administration has imposed **Section 144** for two days, effective from **December 31, 2024**, to **January 1, 2025**, to maintain law and order during the New Year celebrations. This decision comes as a preventive measure to stop the practice of aerial firing and the use of fireworks, which are often a cause of accidents and public disturbance during the festivities.

According to a notification issued by the **Karachi Commissioner**, the ban will specifically target **fireworks** and **firearms** during the transition from the old year to the new one. The authorities have made it clear that anyone found violating this order will face **strict legal action**.

The move is aimed at ensuring the safety of citizens and preventing any untoward incidents during the New Year’s celebrations in Karachi, which often see a surge in fire-related accidents and injuries due to fireworks and celebratory gunfire.
