Karachi: Four Accused in Dumper Arson Cases Sent to Jail on Judicial Remand

KARACHI – An anti-terrorism administrative court on Friday sent four suspects to jail on judicial remand in connection with two separate cases involving the arson of dumper trucks.
The accused – Syed Furdeen, Muhammad Muneeb, Muhammad Fahad, and Muhammad Moaz Siddiqui – were presented before the administrative judge at the Anti-Terrorism Complex inside Central Jail Karachi by New Karachi Police.
During the hearing, the investigation officer requested physical remand of the suspects. However, the court raised serious questions about the timeline and feasibility of the alleged incidents.
According to the remand papers, the suspects allegedly set fire to one dumper at Powerhouse Chowrangi and, at the same time, torched another dumper 1.5 kilometers away. The judge remarked, “Is this even possible? How can the suspects be at two places at the same time? Are they Superman?”
In response, Investigating Officer Inspector Sufyan claimed it was a typing error and promised to correct it. However, the court was not satisfied with the explanation.
In its written order, the court noted that the police had failed to present any substantial evidence against the accused to justify physical remand. As a result, the suspects were sent to jail on judicial remand.
The cases have been registered at the New Karachi Police Station.
