Karachi: 44 Homeless Drug Addicts Found Dead Since December 2024
Since December 2024, 44 homeless individuals, including a woman, have lost their lives in Karachi due to various causes, primarily related to their drug addiction. Out of these, 13 drug addicts died from cold weather exposure, as they lacked proper clothing, bedding, and blankets to protect themselves from the harsh winter conditions.
A spokesperson for a social organization stated that these 13 individuals had insufficient resources to shield themselves from the cold, and many of them had increased their drug consumption to cope with the freezing temperatures. Unfortunately, the combination of heightened drug intake and extreme cold proved fatal for these individuals.
Most of the drug addicts who perished from the cold were homeless, and as a result, their identities remain unknown. The ongoing issue highlights the vulnerability of homeless drug users, particularly in harsh weather conditions, and underscores the need for greater support and care for marginalized communities.
