Justice Waqar Ahmed Recuses Himself from Election Tribunal Cases Amid Objection
Peshawar: Justice Waqar Ahmed of the Election Tribunal has recused himself from hearing election petitions following objections raised during a hearing. In an official order sheet, Justice Waqar confirmed his withdrawal from the tribunal, stating that the objections made against him were valid.
The objection, raised by PTI lawmaker Arbab Waseem, questioned Justice Waqar’s impartiality due to his past association with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, where he served as the Additional Advocate General during PTI’s tenure in power. The objector stated that although Justice Waqar had previously been affiliated with the party, once a judge takes an oath, they should have no ties with any political party.
As a result, the cases related to the election will now be transferred to another tribunal for further hearings.
