Islamabad: Retired Justice Tariq Masood and retired Justice Mazhar Alam Khan have been sworn in as ad hoc judges. The swearing-in ceremony of ad hoc judges took place at the Supreme Court. Chief Justice Qazi Faiz Isa administered the oath to the ad hoc judges. The ceremony was attended by other judges including Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, Attorney General Mansoor Usman Awan, senior officials, lawyers, and court staff.
Both judges have been appointed as ad hoc judges of the Supreme Court for a period of one year. The appointments were approved by the President of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari. The notification of appointments was issued by the Ministry of Law. Justice (Retired) Mazhar Alam Khan had earlier expressed reluctance to become an ad hoc judge.
The Judicial Commission had recommended the appointments of Retired Justice Sardar Tariq Masood and Retired Justice Mazhar Alam Khan as ad hoc judges for one year.
