Justice Sardar Tariq Masood and Justice Mazhar Alam Khan Take Oath as Ad-hoc Judges

Islamabad:Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Qazi Faez Isa, administered the oath to ad-hoc judges Justice Sardar Tariq Masood and Justice Mazhar Alam Khan. The swearing-in ceremony at the Supreme Court was attended by judges of the Supreme Court, the Attorney General, judicial officials, and the families of the ad-hoc judges.

The tenure of Justice Retired Sardar Tariq Masood and Justice Retired Mazhar Alam Khan as ad-hoc judges has been set for one year. It should be noted that following approval from the President of the country, Asif Ali Zardari, notifications for the appointment of Justice Retired Sardar Tariq Masood and Justice Retired Mazhar Alam Khan as ad-hoc judges in the Supreme Court of Pakistan were issued earlier this week.

The Judicial Commission had recommended the appointment of Justice Retired Sardar Tariq Masood and Justice Retired Mazhar Alam Khan as ad-hoc judges for a period of one year, after which the President of the country had approved their appointments in the Supreme Court.

Previously, Justice Retired Mazhar Alam Khan had declined to work as an ad-hoc judge in the Supreme Court, upon which the Judicial Commission had decided to seek his opinion again in a meeting. Following this, Justice Mazhar Alam Khan had expressed his consent.
