Junaid Akbar Announces Restructuring of PTI, Says ‘Homeopathic Leadership’ Will Be Sideline

Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) and President of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Junaid Akbar, has stated that the party is planning to reorganize and will sideline the “homeopathic leadership.” He also expressed confidence that Imran Khan would be released in 2025.
In an interview with a private TV channel, Junaid Akbar discussed the upcoming protest on February 8, mentioning that consultations with MNAs will take place and the party has various options in hand. He indicated that while efforts are being made to negotiate with the government, the outlook is not positive. As a backup plan, PTI is considering blocking all highways in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Junaid Akbar praised Ali Amin Gandapur for his tireless efforts within the party, emphasizing that despite all the challenges, PTI’s women and workers remain steadfast. He added that, although numerous cases have been filed against them, they are determined to stand their ground.
He also highlighted the widening gap between institutions and the public, calling it a dangerous trend that needs to be addressed. Reflecting on PTI’s tenure in power, Junaid Akbar acknowledged the party’s past mistakes, stating that their actions have led to the current situation, and citing how people like Saad Rafique had previously warned them about the consequences of their actions.
Akbar further revealed that during PTI’s time in power, institutional interference was significant, and the blame for some of the party’s splits should not solely be placed on those who left—his own party’s behavior also played a role. He also mentioned that the government is attempting to form a forward block within PTI.
Regarding his personal experience, Junaid Akbar shared how he was not allowed to sleep during his time in jail, with authorities repeatedly coming to take pictures of him.
