JUI Seeks PTI’s Support for Religious Schools Legislation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
Islamabad: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) has requested the support of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for provincial legislation regarding religious schools (Madaris) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, following the context of the Societies Registration (Amendment) Bill. JUI Senator Kamran Murtaza held a meeting with PTI leader Asad Qaiser, during which they discussed the emerging situation surrounding the bill and other political matters.
During the discussion, Murtaza urged PTI to assist in passing legislation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, noting that the bill approved at the federal level would only apply to Islamabad. He also suggested that similar legislation should be pursued in other provinces, including Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan, through consultations with regional political leaders.
In response, Asad Qaiser asked how PTI could help address the issue of Madaris. Murtaza highlighted the conflicting statements made by PTI leaders regarding JUI, urging the party to clarify whether it was willing to cooperate with JUI on this matter.
