Judicial Commission to Decide on Appointment of Additional Judges in High Courts
Islamabad: The Judicial Commission is set to make a decision regarding the appointment of additional judges to the high courts in its upcoming meeting. According to sources, the commission will consider the appointment of additional judges for the Peshawar High Court and the Sindh High Court.
In the previous meeting, a proposal was made to convene another meeting on December 6 to discuss the appointment of additional judges for the Sindh High Court. Judicial Commission member, Farooq H. Naik, had requested more time to review the nominations and deliberations for these appointments.
Sources further mentioned that appointments for judges are also expected for other provincial high courts.
It is noteworthy that in a recent meeting, the Judicial Commission nominated 9 judges for constitutional benches in the Sindh High Court. Justice A.K. Agha has been appointed as the head of the constitutional benches and the constitutional committee.
The nomination of the 9 judges for the constitutional benches in Sindh High Court was made with a majority decision of 11 to 4. The appointed judges include Justice Abdul Karim Khan Agha (Chairman), Justice Saleem Jaser, Justice Umar Sial, Justice Yusuf Ali Syed, Justice Abdul Mubeen Lakho, Justice Zulfiqar Ali Sanghi, Justice Sana Ikram Minhas, Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro, and Justice Arbab Ali Hakro.
