Judicial Commission Approves Permanent Chief Justice of Balochistan High Court

Justice Ejaz Swati appointed as permanent Chief Justice of Balochistan High Court

Islamabad: In a recent meeting of the Judicial Commission, the appointment of Justice Ejaz Swati as the permanent Chief Justice of the Balochistan High Court was approved. The meeting, chaired by Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Yahya Afridi, deliberated on the matter of appointing a permanent Chief Justice for the Balochistan High Court.
Justice Ejaz Swati had been serving as the acting Chief Justice of the Balochistan High Court prior to this approval. His appointment as the permanent Chief Justice was finalized during the Judicial Commission’s meeting held on May 19, 2025.
Background of Justice Ejaz Swati
Justice Mohammad Ejaz Swati was born on June 6, 1963, in Quetta. He completed his early education at the Tamir No Public School in Quetta and earned his M.A. in English from the University of Balochistan. He later completed his LLB in 1988 from the University Law College in Quetta.
Justice Swati began his career as an advocate in November 1991 at the Balochistan High Court and later became a member of the Supreme Court of Pakistan in 2007. His legal practice spans over 22 years, during which he represented clients in various courts, including the District Courts, Balochistan High Court, Federal Shariat Court, and the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
In addition to his legal career, Justice Swati served as the legal advisor to the National Bank of Pakistan in October 1994, where he worked on the bank’s legal panel. He also participated in the first Provincial Judicial Conference held on April 14, 2002.
Justice Swati was appointed as an Additional Judge at the Balochistan High Court on August 30, 2013, and became a permanent Judge on September 2, 2015. He took the oath as Acting Chief Justice of Balochistan High Court on February 14, 2025, and has now been confirmed as the permanent Chief Justice of the court.
