Quetta:The Balochistan Bar Council, High Court Bar Association, and Quetta Bar Association issued a joint statement condemning the use of forceful tactics during a peaceful sit-in organized by the Baloch Unity Committee. The statement highlighted incidents of violence, tear gas shelling, and firing, resulting in the arrest of committee members including Dr. Sabeel Baloch and others. Additionally, it criticized the raid on the residence of National Party central leader Asghar Baloch, citing it as an act of sabotage against the sit-in.
The statement vehemently criticized the Balochistan government for failing to protect citizens, expressing outrage over unwarranted arrests of political activists across Balochistan. It denounced the government’s policy of coercion as intolerable and emphasized the rampant violations of human rights in the province.
Moreover, the statement highlighted the closure of national highways under government supervision for the first time, impacting ordinary citizens. It also pointed out the difficulties faced in accessing healthcare for sick individuals due to the ongoing situation.
The joint statement urged the government to refrain from coercive measures and find peaceful solutions to the crisis. It called for the immediate release of all political detainees, including Dr. Sabeel Baloch and Asghar Hussain.
