Jaya Bachchan Appeals to Rajya Sabha for Commemorative Stamps for Amitabh Bachchan’s Classic Films
New Delhi:Bollywood actress and politician Jaya Bachchan has appealed to the Rajya Sabha to issue commemorative postage stamps marking the 50th anniversary of her husband Amitabh Bachchan’s iconic films *Deewaar* and *Sholay*.
In her appeal, Jaya Bachchan requested the Rajya Sabha to honor these legendary films by releasing special stamps on their golden jubilee. Amitabh Bachchan played pivotal roles in both films, which have become timeless classics in Indian cinema.
Earlier, Jaya Bachchan had also met with Union Home Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, urging her to allocate funds for the betterment of the film industry. Furthermore, she appealed to the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to issue commemorative stamps to celebrate the milestone of these cinematic achievements.
It is noteworthy that several Hindi films have previously been honored with commemorative stamps, including those of Dadasaheb Phalke, Satyajit Ray, Nargis, Bimal Roy, and Yash Chopra.
