Jasprit Bumrah Out of ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025, Harshit Rana Named Replacement

Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the upcoming ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 due to a back injury. Harshit Rana has been named as his replacement.

This is the second ICC event from which the 31-year-old fast bowler has been sidelined due to a back injury. Bumrah sustained a lower back injury during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in January, which has led to his absence from the tournament. Bumrah had also missed the 2022 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia for the same reason.

Harshit Rana has impressed the selectors with his outstanding performance in the ongoing One Day International series against England, where he took 4 wickets in his first 2 matches. The third ODI is scheduled to be played in Ahmedabad on Wednesday.

Additionally, India has included spinner Varun Chakravarthy in the squad in place of Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was initially part of the provisional squad. Jaiswal, along with Mohammad Siraj and Shubman Dubey, has been named as a non-traveling reserve.

India will begin their ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 campaign on February 20 against Bangladesh, followed by a high-stakes match against traditional rivals Pakistan on February 23. India’s final group match in Group A will be against New Zealand on March 2.

The final squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 includes Rohit Sharma (captain), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Harshit Rana, Mohammad Shami, Arshdeep Singh, Ravindra Jadeja, and Varun Chakravarthy.
