Jamaat-e-Islami’s Hafiz Naeem Urges Government to Cut Electricity Prices for Public Relief

Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman, has expressed his anticipation regarding Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s upcoming announcement on electricity prices. In a statement, Hafiz Naeem emphasized that, in principle, electricity bills should align with average cost rates.

He further added that the price per electricity unit should be reduced by at least enough to provide substantial relief to the public. Naeem stressed that the reduction should be significant enough to help keep the industrial wheel turning.

Hafiz Naeem mentioned that the party will announce its next course of action after Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s address. It is expected that in his speech, the Prime Minister will deliver good news to the public and announce major decisions regarding the economic situation.

Government sources indicate that a significant reduction in electricity prices is likely, and Prime Minister Sharif has also called representatives from the business community for a meeting to discuss power sector reforms and to take them into confidence.
