Rawalpindi: Jamaat-e-Islami’s protest against rising prices and increased electricity bills entered its second day in Liaquat Bagh. A large number of participants gathered at the protest site, where the organizing committee arranged special breakfast for the protesters. The participants have announced to continue the protest until their demands are met.
Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman, the leader of Jamaat-e-Islami, is scheduled to address a press conference at 11 AM at the protest venue. He will outline the future course of action for the protest. Due to the demonstration by Jamaat-e-Islami, Murree Road from Committee Chowk to Mareer Hassan has been completely closed. The Metro bus service remains suspended for the second consecutive day, causing severe difficulties for the residents. Yesterday, the Metro bus service was halted from Faizabad to Rawalpindi on orders from the administration, adding to the commuters’ woes traveling between Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
