Jamaat-e-Islami Calls for Unified Protest Against Rising Bills and Corruption in Balochistan
Quetta:Maulana Abdul Haq Hashmi, Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Balochistan, has expressed deep concern over the ongoing issues in Balochistan, particularly the impact of rising electricity bills, taxes, inflation, and the exploitation by Independent Power Producers (IPPs). He described the silence on these critical issues as a matter of grave concern.
Hashmi emphasized that the upcoming protest organized by Jamaat-e-Islami against these issues is a collective effort and urged the public to support the party’s initiative. He highlighted the urgent need for sincere efforts to address Balochistan’s problems, which include unfair distribution of resources, deprivation of rights, corruption, lawlessness, and encroachments on trade and business.
Jamaat-e-Islami, according to Hashmi, has decided to confront major corrupt figures and protect national resources. He criticized IPPs and the IMF for undermining the country’s economy and accused ruling parties of participating in the looting of national wealth. Hashmi called on the public to boycott these corrupt entities and join Jamaat-e-Islami’s revolutionary struggle for relief.
He highlighted that while IPPs have become profit-driven companies exploiting Pakistan, Jamaat-e-Islami’s protests have exposed their wrongdoing. However, the ruling authorities and powerful entities have so far attempted to shield these companies. Hashmi stressed that Jamaat-e-Islami is committed to revealing these corrupt figures and safeguarding national resources.
The party’s protests, Hashmi said, have garnered widespread support from the public. He encouraged people to join Jamaat-e-Islami’s demonstrations if they want to see reductions in electricity bills, taxes, and inflation, and to put an end to the exploitation by IPPs. He also condemned violent and disruptive methods, advocating for democratic and peaceful protests instead.
Hashmi further criticized the federal government’s indifference and failure to provide constitutional rights, which he believes has exacerbated the region’s issues. He concluded by paying tribute to Ismail Haniyeh, calling him a true leader and a symbol of resistance for Palestine’s freedom, and urging a united stand against schemes that undermine Balochistan’s resources and stability.
