Jamaat-e-Islami Balochistan Demands Immediate Action on Missing Persons, Political Prisoners, and Internet Censorship

Quetta:Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Balochistan and MPA, Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman Baloch, emphasized that the recovery of missing persons, the release of political prisoners, and the ending of false cases are urgent issues that require immediate attention. He condemned the government’s actions, particularly the ongoing closure of highways and the internet, stating that such actions are a violation of people’s rights and are only exacerbating the crisis in Balochistan.

Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman Baloch criticized the government’s focus on blocking peaceful protests and internet access instead of providing facilities and peace to the public. He stated that these measures have turned Balochistan into a no-go area. To address these issues, Jamaat-e-Islami plans to engage in protests, sit-ins, tribal councils, and an all-party movement to find solutions to the pressing challenges.

He expressed these thoughts while speaking at a gathering in Gwadar and meeting with various delegations. Prior to the event, he also spoke over the phone with the leader of the Balochistan National Party (BNP), Sardar Akhtar Mengal, condemning the obstacles in the way of protests, the false cases, and the violence against political leaders. Sardar Akhtar Mengal thanked Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman Baloch for his support and for Jamaat-e-Islami’s participation in the protests.

Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman Baloch reaffirmed that Jamaat-e-Islami will continue its strong and peaceful protests both inside and outside the assembly against oppression. He stressed that blocking the democratic right to peaceful protests and resorting to authoritarian measures is a form of injustice, paving the way for people to take more extreme steps. He pointed out that the people of Balochistan are denied their rights through democratic means and that those advocating for peaceful paths are also being oppressed.

He condemned the actions of the government and the powerful elites for pushing Balochistan into a state of turmoil, with businesses, roads, and even the internet shut down. He added that the media is also restricted from discussing the truth. In these circumstances, he said, the people of Balochistan are struggling under a repressive system where the powerful are pushing them towards a dead end.

Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman Baloch reiterated that Jamaat-e-Islami stands firmly against all forms of oppression and injustice. The party is committed to resisting all forms of tyranny and dictatorship with the power of public support. He emphasized that the ongoing violence, exploitation, and the imposition of external decisions on Balochistan without involving its people or their leaders is causing significant problems.

The Jamaat-e-Islami leader also stressed that Balochistan’s resources should be spent on the development of the region and its people. He called for greater employment opportunities for the youth and rejected the notion that any individual, institution, or organization has the right to take someone’s life. He underscored that such matters should be handled by the judiciary according to due process.
