Jamaat-e-Islami Balochistan Criticizes Security Agencies and Military Operations Amid Growing Insecurity
Quetta:Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Balochistan and MPA, Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman Baloch, has strongly criticized the security agencies and government for their failure to protect the lives and property of the public in the province. He emphasized that it is not military operations but the provision of employment, justice, legal trade, and the restoration of law and order that is urgently needed in Balochistan.
In a speech delivered during a ceremony in Gwadar and Turbat, Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman stated that the government’s negligence had left the public vulnerable, as their lives and assets were not secure. “Before military operations, graveyards, hospitals, and villages were already being abandoned. The current situation, with Balochistan resembling a battlefield due to military operations, is a direct consequence of the flawed policies of the rulers in Islamabad and Rawalpindi,” he said.
He further criticized the ruling elite for using force to exacerbate the already precarious situation in Balochistan, adding that the people would resist this oppression and take to the streets, protesting both inside and outside the parliament. He condemned the failure to locate missing persons, such as Masoor Kakr, whose disappearance remained unresolved despite six days passing, calling this the failure of security agencies.
“Despite spending billions on security cameras and other measures, the people’s safety is not guaranteed,” Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman remarked. He called for accountability for the malfunctioning security cameras and questioned why such a large number of cameras installed for the city’s safety were not operational. “It seems that those who installed these cameras took commissions and installed defective systems that have failed to provide any real security.”
The Jamaat-e-Islami leader expressed concerns over the widespread corruption within the security agencies, where high-ranking officials were seemingly complicit in protecting each other’s interests. He demanded that everyone, from security personnel to government officials, be held accountable for their negligence.
Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman criticized the failure of both the police and Frontier Corps (FC) in keeping the public safe, pointing to the fact that despite hundreds of FC personnel, police officers, and resources, the security forces had failed to prevent crimes and safeguard the public. He called for a collective voice to be raised against the lack of action to ensure public safety, as well as for the recovery of missing individuals like Masoor Kakr.
“The people of Balochistan are now fully aware that military operations have not led to peace. Instead, they have resulted in increased suffering and division. What we need is a system that ensures the protection of our citizens, not more military crackdowns that have shown no positive results,” he concluded.
He called upon the people, traders, and political forces to unite in demanding action from the security agencies. “If we remain united, we will be able to wake up those responsible for the security failures and bring justice to Balochistan.”
