Jamaat-e-Islami Balochistan Condemns State Violence, Calls for Restoration of Human Rights

Quetta:MPA Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman Baloch, the Emir of Jamaat-e-Islami Balochistan, stated that the restoration of human rights and the recovery of missing persons are essential for establishing peace in Balochistan. He strongly condemned the direct firing on peaceful and unarmed Baloch women protesters in Quetta, which resulted in deaths and injuries, as well as the brutality, police violence, and the arrest of activists like Maherang Baloch.
He criticized the government’s and security forces’ approach of using violence instead of negotiating with their fellow citizens. According to him, this has worsened the situation, increased hatred, fear, and tension, and paralyzed Balochistan. He expressed these views while speaking at an event in Gwadar and during meetings with various delegations.
Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman emphasized that the government has lost control over Balochistan, and that the security forces’ use of force, bullets, and violence have escalated the situation to the point where the province’s highways, cities, markets, businesses, and communication services such as internet and mobile networks have been shut down.
He called the violent response to peaceful protests for missing persons and the recovery of dead bodies a dark chapter in the province’s history. He stated that the entire Balochistan has become a prison, with daily life severely disrupted.
The Jamaat-e-Islami leader stressed the importance of continuing the peaceful struggle for the recovery of missing persons, the end of enforced disappearances, and the attainment of human and economic rights. He warned that the use of violence against peaceful and unarmed people will only increase public resentment, which is harmful to the state.
He urged the government, security forces, and state institutions to abandon any violent tactics and immediately address the legitimate demands of the protesters. He called for the release of missing persons, the cessation of body dumping, and for the authorities to honor the demands of the families by returning their loved ones.
