Jamaat-e-Islami Balochistan Chief Criticizes Current Political Setup, Calls for Struggle Against Exploitation

Dera Allah Yar:Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Balochistan and Member of the Provincial Assembly, Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman, has strongly criticized the current political system, claiming that the country is under the worst form of martial law disguised as democracy. He pointed out that such a situation was never seen even during the eras of General Ayub Khan or General Pervez Musharraf. Speaking at a press conference at the Jafarabad Press Club during his visit to Dera Allah Yar, Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman said that political activists have been sidelined, and traders and vested interests have been placed in provincial and national assemblies.

He further expressed concern that the youth are growing disillusioned with democracy and parliament, with many turning to militancy in the mountains. He blamed the decision-makers in Rawalpindi and Islamabad for this situation. “The real responsibility lies with those making decisions in Rawalpindi and Islamabad,” he asserted.

Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman also criticized the government’s handling of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects, claiming that Gwadar and Balochistan were being deprived of their rightful share in the developmental projects. He alleged that while projects are being launched in Islamabad and Lahore, the people of Balochistan are being left out. He accused the government of depriving the people of Balochistan of dignified employment by closing the borders, and even selling jobs, departments, and ministries.

“The province is being treated like a colony, and political parties are being manipulated with force,” he said. He also criticized the central government’s control, stating that the chief ministers and prime ministers are powerless, with key decisions being made by unseen, powerful forces in Islamabad and Rawalpindi. According to him, these powerful individuals are only interested in exploiting Balochistan’s resources while ignoring the problems and hardships of the people.

Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman spoke about the alleged misuse of power by the Frontier Corps (FC), accusing them of charging money for even basic goods like 10 liters of petrol and one kilogram of potatoes at their check posts. He also mentioned that the province’s police and customs powers had been delegated to the FC, further escalating concerns about governance and the rule of law in the province.

In response to the widespread injustice and exploitation, Jamaat-e-Islami Balochistan is launching a movement to fight against tyranny and oppression, not only in Balochistan but across the country. Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman announced that political assemblies and jirgas would be held at the district and divisional levels in Balochistan to unite the people against injustice and exploitation. He also confirmed plans to gather a massive rally of 100,000 people in Quetta, sending a clear message to the powerful elites in Rawalpindi and Islamabad that the people of Balochistan will no longer tolerate exploitation and will continue to raise their voices for their rights on their own land.

The press conference was attended by the Vice Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Balochistan, Bashir Ahmad Mandai, the Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Jafarabad, Professor Ayub Mansoor, and Mir Jumma Khan Gajani.
