Islamabad Sealed Completely Following PTI and Jamaat-e-Islami Protests
Islamabad:In view of protests by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), the government has imposed Section 144 and completely sealed the Red Zone of the federal capital Islamabad.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and the opposition alliance Movement for Protection of Constitution had announced nationwide protests today, while Jamaat-e-Islami also declared a sit-in against inflation and excessive electricity prices in Islamabad.
Omar Ayub stated that Imran Khan has conveyed a message to everyone to make the Movement for Protection of Constitution’s call successful and to ensure peaceful protests, as our demonstrations have always been peaceful.
On the other hand, Jamaat-e-Islami has announced a sit-in in Islamabad. Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman, while speaking to the media in Gujranwala, said that on July 26, there will be a sit-in in Islamabad and Jamaat-e-Islami will fight the case of 25 crore people.
He said that electricity bills have made life miserable for the people, and the public is selling their precious goods and jewelry to pay bills. The government should provide security, health, and education facilities, and if the government cannot provide facilities, why is it imposing taxes?
Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman said that caravans from all over the country are heading towards Islamabad, so the government should refrain from placing obstacles in the way of sit-ins. Pressures cannot stop our path; if the government stops entering Islamabad, the situation will deteriorate. Jamaat-e-Islami has directed its workers to reach Islamabad cautiously, saying that the protest against inflation will definitely be held.
Containers have been placed at Nadrac Chowk, Serena Chowk, and Express Chowk to seal the Red Zone. Police said that due to the implementation of Section 144 in the federal capital, no permission has been granted for any protest.
