Islamabad Police Stations to be Upgraded to Smart Stations

Islamabad: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has issued a directive to upgrade police stations in the federal capital to the standards of Smart Police Stations.
During a review meeting chaired by Naqvi on the progress of upgrading Islamabad’s police stations, he emphasized that the city’s police stations need to be transformed into Smart Police Stations to modernize the capital’s law enforcement infrastructure. Naqvi described traditional police stations as symbols of fear, noting that citizens often hesitate to approach them. He also highlighted his own visits to these stations, describing their condition as deplorable.
Naqvi stressed that Islamabad, being Pakistan’s face to the world, must adopt smart policing without delay. He assured that resources would be provided for the establishment of Smart Police Stations.
The Federal Interior Minister announced that well-educated and courteous police officers would be assigned to these upgraded stations. The process will be gradual, with police stations being transformed into Smart Police Stations in phases.
He instructed that the upgrade should feature cost-effective yet high-quality designs and requested the identification of land for police stations in existing buildings. Naqvi also emphasized that recruitment for Islamabad police would be merit-based, ensuring that only qualified and suitable candidates are selected. He called for a positive change in the attitude of police officers towards the public.
The meeting was attended by Federal Secretary of Interior Khurram Ali Agha, CDA Chairman Mohammad Ali Randhawa, DIG Operations, and other senior officials.
