Islamabad High Court to Hear Review Petition on Imran Khan’s Jail Facilities

Islamabad:The Islamabad High Court has directed that a review petition regarding the jail facilities for PTI Chairman Imran Khan be scheduled for hearing. The court addressed objections raised by the Registrar’s Office concerning the petition and instructed that it be listed for hearing on Monday.

The petition challenges the order of the Special Central Court, issued on January 10, by Judge Shah Rukh Arjumand, regarding Imran Khan’s jail facilities. The request argues that the trial court’s order is being misused and seeks to ensure that the provisions of law and justice are met according to constitutional requirements.

Imran Khan’s lawyer, Faisal Fareed Chaudhry, appeared before the court and explained that they were challenging the trial court’s decision. The court overruled the Registrar’s Office objection and set a date for the petition’s hearing next Monday.

The petition also highlighted concerns about the lack of appropriate facilities for Khan, despite his status as a high-profile prisoner. It called for the provision of weekly phone calls with his children, access to books, newspapers—including *Express Tribune*—and other reading materials. The petition further requested the court to ensure that family and lawyer visits are scheduled weekly in compliance with the Prison Act and the Pakistan Jail Rules of 1978.
