ISLAMABAD:The Islamabad High Court has issued notices to the Secretary Interior, Chief Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, and Inspector General (IG) after refusing to grant permission for a protest by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), despite a court order.
Despite a judicial order at Islamabad High Court, PTI’s request for permission to protest was denied, prompting a contempt of court petition. Justice Shamim Rafat Imtiaz issued notices to the Secretary Interior, Chief Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, and IG following objections raised by PTI.
PTI’s lawyer Shoaib Shahin stated, “Yesterday, we were denied permission to protest in Islamabad. After filing a contempt of court petition, we received an order from the DC rejecting our request.”
Subsequently, Islamabad High Court postponed the hearing of the case until tomorrow, issuing a notice.
**NA-18 Haripur Electoral Malpractice Investigation: Islamabad High Court Issues Stay on Election Commission Action**
ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court has issued a stay order on the Election Commission’s action for an investigation into electoral malpractices in NA-18 Haripur, the constituency of PTI’s General Secretary Omar Ayub.
The Supreme Court halted Election Commission action based on a request from PML-N candidate Babar Nawaz, as per his application.
Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court, Aamer Farooq, issued notices while requesting a response from Omar Ayub on his application.
The applicant argued that the Election Commission is required to decide within 60 days of the application, making any action beyond that period unlawful. The court issued notices to the Election Commission, NA-18 Returning Officer, District Returning Officer, and Babar Nawaz Khan.
It is noteworthy that opposition leader in the National Assembly, Omar Ayub, had challenged the Election Commission’s action and the July 10 order.
