Islamabad High Court Dismisses Contempt of Court Proceedings Against 36 Lawyers in Chief Justice Block Attack Case

Islamabad:The Islamabad High Court (IHC) heard the case related to the attack on the Chief Justice Block on February 8, 2021. The hearing was conducted by the Acting Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court, Justice Sarfraz Dogar.
During the proceedings, the affidavits of the 36 lawyers involved in the case were submitted to the court. After reviewing the submitted documents, the Islamabad High Court decided to dismiss the contempt of court proceedings against all 36 lawyers.
Adil Aziz Qazi, one of the lawyers, stated that the court had requested affidavits, which had now been duly submitted. Advocate Babar Awan explained that the incident had occurred due to a strike, which the police had exaggerated. He further requested the court to consider concluding the case, as it had been ongoing for over five years.
The court has yet to make a final ruling on the request for the case’s closure.
