Islamabad Government Completes Major Underpass Projects to Improve Traffic Flow

In a bid to improve traffic flow in Islamabad, the federal government decided last year to construct two major underpasses: the F9 Underpass and the Serena Underpass. After completing a section of the F9 Underpass in a record 42 days, it has now been fully opened to traffic. The government has named this underpass after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in recognition of his contribution to the project.
Meanwhile, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) completed the Serena Underpass in a record 72 days and opened it to traffic on February 4. *V News* has investigated the details regarding the contractors and the costs associated with both projects.
The F9 Underpass contract was awarded to *Mek Sons Engineering Corporation*, with a total project cost of 4 billion Pakistani rupees. This underpass will greatly facilitate traffic movement for the G8, G9, F8, and F9 areas. The first section of the F9 Underpass was partially opened to traffic after 42 days, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif officially inaugurated it yesterday, making the entire interchange fully operational.
The Serena Underpass contract was awarded to *Habib Construction Company*, and the total cost of the project was 4.25 billion Pakistani rupees. This underpass will ease traffic flow for those traveling to Serena Hotel, Constitution Avenue, Aabpara, and the Srinagar Highway, which leads towards Murree. The project was completed in a remarkable 72 days and was opened to traffic on February 4.
Both projects are expected to significantly reduce congestion and improve the overall traffic experience in the capital city.
