Islamabad Excise and Taxation Department Extends Token Tax Payment Deadline by 15 Days

Islamabad:In response to the overwhelming crowd, the Islamabad Excise and Taxation Department has extended the deadline for token tax payments by an additional 15 days.

According to the department, failure to pay the token tax will result in the cancellation of vehicle registrations, and a penalty of up to 200% will be imposed. The Excise and Taxation Department has issued a directive urging vehicle owners who have not paid their token taxes for several years to immediately pay the dues. The new deadline for payment has been extended to January 31, 2025.

After this date, vehicles belonging to defaulters will have their registrations canceled, and penalties of up to 200% will be applied.

To facilitate citizens, the Excise counters will remain open until 8 PM. Additionally, smart card users can pay their token tax at any time from the comfort of their homes through the ‘Islamabad City App.’

Bilal Azam Khan, Director of Excise and Taxation, advised citizens to pay the token tax immediately to avoid any legal action.
