Islamabad: An Islamabad court has granted bail to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Azam Swati in two cases filed under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA).
Additional Sessions Judge Afzal Majoka of the District and Sessions Courts Islamabad heard the bail pleas for Swati related to controversial tweets. The court approved his bail against surety bonds of 500,000 rupees for each case. Swati appeared in court accompanied by his lawyer, Ali Bukhari.
During the proceedings, Swati’s lawyer informed the court that Swati was arrested on November 27, 2022, and had been under physical remand for four days. Despite this, Swati did not appear in court, leading to the denial of his previous bail application.
