Islamabad: 10 PTI Workers Sentenced to Four Years in Jail in May 9 Incident Case
Islamabad: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad has sentenced 10 workers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to four years in prison each for their involvement in the May 9 incidents. The court issued a detailed 15-page verdict on the case, delivered by Judge Tahir Abbas Supra.
The accused PTI workers were found guilty under various sections of the law, and each was sentenced to a total of four years in prison. In addition to the imprisonment, the court imposed fines on the workers. Those released on bail were handed one-month jail sentences and a fine of 1,000 Pakistani Rupees under Section 341. Under Section 186, they received three-month prison terms and a 1,000-rupee fine, while Section 353 led to two-year jail terms and fines of 20,000 rupees each.
The court also imposed six-month sentences and fines of 3,000 rupees under Section 188, and three-year sentences with 20,000 rupees fines under Section 149.
The ruling also stated that six individuals in the case have been declared fugitives, with non-bailable arrest warrants issued against them. The court found that the charges under sections 382 and 436 could not be substantiated, and thus, the accused were acquitted of these charges. While the defendants were linked to a political party, the complaints did not provide sufficient grounds for terrorism charges, leading to their acquittal under terrorism-related sections.
