Ishaq Dar Questions PTI’s Protests During Diplomatic Visits, Urges Prioritization of National Interests
Islamabad:Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has raised serious concerns over the timing of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) ongoing protests, questioning whether they are merely political protests or part of a calculated plot to undermine the country’s dignity and international relations.
In a statement, Dar expressed his dismay over the repeated pattern of PTI calling for protests when major international dignitaries are scheduled to visit Pakistan. He pointed out that this was the case during the visit of the Chinese Prime Minister on October 14, and again during the arrival of heads of state for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit on October 15-16. “Every time, PTI has chosen to disrupt these important moments with their protests,” Dar said.
The Foreign Minister further highlighted that PTI has once again planned protests coinciding with the visit of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, whose delegation, including ministers and key business figures, is arriving in Islamabad. “This time, they are disrupting the arrival of the Belarusian delegation, showing a complete disregard for the country’s international engagements,” Dar remarked.
In his appeal, Dar urged political parties to prioritize Pakistan’s national interest over petty politics. “For God’s sake, put the country’s interests first,” he said, calling on PTI to show compassion for the people of Pakistan and refrain from putting their political agenda ahead of the country’s well-being. “Your politics should not take precedence over Pakistan’s interests,” he emphasized.
Dar’s comments reflect the government’s growing frustration with the political instability caused by PTI’s actions, particularly at a time when the country is hosting crucial diplomatic visits.
