Iranian Consul General Highlights Key Areas for Strengthening Pak-Iran Relations
Quetta:Iranian Consul General Hassan Darvishvand has emphasized that the completion of the Pakistan-Iran gas pipeline project, the establishment of bilateral banking sectors, and the promotion of tourism will significantly enhance trade volume between the two nations. Speaking during a meeting with Pakistan Muslim League (PML) leader Khawaja Rameez Hassan in Quetta, Darvishvand underscored the importance of Pak-Iran relations, describing them as crucial for peace and economic stability in the region.
He highlighted that both nations share commonalities in language, culture, and tourism, which provide a strong foundation for deeper cooperation. “Social media exploration is a key tool for bringing these two cultures closer together,” Darvishvand remarked. He added that both social media and the film industry play a vital role in fostering cultural exchange, with the establishment of a joint film industry being a potential avenue for further strengthening ties.
The Consul General also expressed concern over the efforts of certain elements working to destabilize the region and disrupt the peaceful relations between Pakistan and Iran. He noted that such disruptions could undermine the longstanding friendship between the two countries.
On the economic front, Darvishvand stressed that global economic priorities are shifting, with the Pakistan-Iran gas pipeline project being a strategic initiative that will not only help meet energy needs but also boost bilateral trade. The establishment of a bilateral banking sector, alongside expanding tourism, will lead to significant increases in trade volume, he said.
Furthermore, Darvishvand pointed out that the people living on both sides of the border share close familial ties, and facilitating their movement and trade through legal channels would be in the mutual interest of both countries. He emphasized that such steps would not only benefit Pakistan and Iran economically but also strengthen the cultural and social fabric of the border regions.
This meeting reflects growing diplomatic efforts to improve Pak-Iran relations and tackle shared challenges, especially in the areas of trade, culture, and regional security.
