Quetta:H.E. Mr. Rahmat Hendiarta Kusuma, Charge d’Affaires at the Indonesian Embassy in Karachi, emphasized the need for a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Pakistan and Indonesia to enhance their $4.5 billion trade target. Speaking to officials and members of the Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Tuesday, he highlighted Balochistan’s vast potential in minerals, livestock, fruits, vegetables, and its extensive coastline, which could significantly contribute to both national and regional economic prosperity.
Mr. Kusuma encouraged Balochistan investors to explore investment opportunities in Indonesia, and suggested that Indonesian investors could benefit from ventures in mining, livestock, agriculture, and fishing sectors in Balochistan. He proposed the establishment of a business council between investors from Balochistan and Indonesia and urged the Indonesian government to offer scholarships to Balochistan’s youth for higher and technical education. He also called for more accessible visa issuance for the Balochistan business community.
Upon his arrival at the Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industry, he was welcomed by President Haji Abdullah Achakzai, Senior Vice President Haji Agha Gul Khalji, and other officials. They expressed their readiness to engage in joint ventures with Indonesian investors.
Mr. Kusuma further noted that Indonesia has positioned itself among the world’s robust economies, attributing this success to political stability, which he believes is essential for achieving economic stability.
